Aram Abrahamyan's private collection

The Museum of Russian Art was founded in 1979 and has been welcoming its visitors since November 19, 1984, thanks to the private collection of Moscow based Armenian doctor Aram Abrahamyan and his wife Maria Abrahamyan.

The museum exhibits the masterpieces of prominent Russian as well as Armenian artists like Mikhail Vrubel, Konstantin Korovin, Valentin Serov, Natalia Goncharova, Martiros Saryan and Rudolf Khachatryan.
The museum has seven halls which host the collection according to art directions. The works of 120 Russian artists make up the majority of the collection.
The museum fund is composed of around 350 items which are late 19th and early 20th century paintings, graphical works, decorative applied art articles and scenic design exhibits; mainly all having played a distinctive role on the further development of the Russian art in general.
The masterpieces of V. Serov, K. Korovin, M. Vrubel, M. Nesterov, A. Benois, Z. Serebriakova, B. Kustodiev, A. Golovin, Y. Lansere, M. Voloshin, K. Petrov-Vodkin, N. Roerich, R. Falk, P. Konchalovsky, M. Saryan, P. Kuznetsov, A. Lentulov, S. Sudeikin, A. Tishler and others are among the exhibits. The crucial artworks of the founders and the most prominent representatives of “Mir Iskusstva” (The World of Art), “Golubaya Roza” (Blue Rose), “Bubnovy Valet” (Jack of Diamonds), “Osliniy Khvost” (Donkey’s Tail), “Makovets”, “Union of Russian Artists” and other artistic groups, like K. Somov, A. Benois, Y. Lansere, Z. Serebriakova, A. Golovin, N. Roerich, V. E, Borisov-Musatov, S. Sudeikin, N. Sapunov, P. Kuznetsov. P. Utkin, K. Petrov-Vodkin, M. Vrubel, K. Bogayevski, M. Voloshin, P. Konchalovsky, A. V. Kuprin, A. Lentulov, I. Mashkov, R. Falk give a general overview of the innovations of the mentioned period and the development of Russian painting.
